What is Chiropractic treatment?
Here is the definition from the British Chiropractic Association.
“Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves, especially related to the spine.
“Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, exercise and dry needling as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.
“Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, which they do very well, patients also consult chiropractors regarding a range of other, related conditions.”

Our Approach at The Family Chiropractic Centre
The centre’s chiropractors Shaana van Aardenne and Bethan Williams use a combination of two chiropractic techniques: the classical chiropractic technique called Diversified and Saco Occipital Technique (SOT).
This enables our chiropractors to draw on a pool of knowledge to find the best treatment for each patient. Soft tissue and fascial work, dry needling and stretching are also incorporated into your hands-on care.
Sacro Occipital Technique is an advanced, specific technique that offers a holistic approach to the whole spine and muscular system and includes craniopathy. It is a softer technique, offering our chiropractors the skills to work on more sensitive individuals with health concerns such as osteoporosis, pregnant ladies, babies or people who don’t like to be ‘cracked’.
Please feel free to call and chat to one of our chiropractors if you are unsure if chiropractic can help you.
